Hairstylist, artist. Rosie Matos was born July 18, 1969, in Roma, Texas, to a hispanic family. Rosie showed remarkable abilities in artistry. She loved to pencil draw from the early ages of 5 to her teens. Her parents wanted her to become a nurse but the finances were not enough for college. Rosie's High School in Texas City offered a Cosmetology program which seemed perfect for the young artist. At 17 years old in 1987, Rosie graduated from high school with her cosmetology license.
Rosie relocated to Houston in 1988 and started working as a stylist. In 1991, Rosie became an Educator for Paul Mitchell. This is what Rosie will say launched her career as a stylist. Paul Mitchell became a part of her family that cared about her education, business, and gave her all the necessary tools to succeed as a stylist. Rosie jumped on the Paul Mitchell bus and has never looked back.
Rosie and husband Sandy Matos had a dream to create a business to formulate dreams of new hairstylists. The dream can only start with putting the guests first and building a team of professionals bent on motivation and success through goals. Salon Matos opened in 1998 where she has been the education leader since the beginning giving her stylists the opportunity to learn the Paul Mitchell education she has received for so many years.
Rosie had her biggest accomplishment professionally in 2006, with her extreme love for teaching she had the opportunity to open a Paul Mitchell School with her husband Sandy. This opportunity has allowed her to motivate, inspire and give knowledge to the future of the hair industry. One of her many passions is giving back and Paul Mitchell schools has allowed her to get creative with fundraising. In 2007, Rosie raised $30,000 in her paintings inspired through the book "Be Nice or Else" by Winn Claybaugh. Her salon has been involved in giving back to many organizations like Locks of Love and Toys for tots, they are involved in Breast Cancer Awareness and many more. Rosie believes that we as salon professionals have a gift that needs to be shared with those around us that are less fortunate. In return we get that indescribable feeling of goodwill towards humanity.
Rosie is always ready to say "Yes" to every opportunity that comes her way. With this attitude of "yes" she has reached most of her goals in life. Not only is she still a stylist behind the chair for 23 years, she has been a Paul Mitchell educator since 1991, salon owner, Paul Mitchell the School owner, Intercoiffure member, JPMS Platform Artist member English and Spanish. Has had the opportunity to work many Paul Mitchell shows with her mentors like Robert Cromeans, Scott Cole, Linda Yodice, Stephanie Koceilski, Winn Claybaugh and many more. Other accomplishments include magazine photo shoots, Houston Fashion week, styling Fran Dresher's hair and working with a television pilot shoot.
Rosie takes the time to put passion and love into each and every moment of her life and to help those around her have a wonderful day. Her other interests are fitness, fashion, art, cooking, being a great mom to Diesel and Blade and a loving wife.
